As a dedicated Honkai: Star Rail player since its launch, I've been eagerly tracking the upcoming version 2.4 rerun characters. The anticipation has been building in our community, and I'm thrilled to finally share my insights about what's coming. HoYoverse has officially revealed an impressive lineup of rerun characters, including some fan favorites that many Trailblazers (including myself) have been waiting for.

The version 2.4 reruns include a diverse roster: Huohuo, Sparkle, Hanya, Yukong, Lynx, Guinaifen, Hook, and Arlan. As someone who missed Guinaifen during her initial run, I'm particularly excited about this opportunity.

If you're planning your Stellar Jade spending like I am, here's how the banners will be structured:

First Phase:

  • 5★: Huohuo (Nihility/Fire)

  • 4★: Lynx, Yukong, and Hanya

Second Phase:

  • 5★: Sparkle

  • 4★: Hook, Guinaifen, and Arlan

I've been saving my Stellar Jades for months now, and with the generous rewards from the recent summer events, I've accumulated nearly 24,000 Jades. That should give me a solid chance at securing at least one 5-star character, though as veterans know, the gacha gods can be fickle!

New Characters Joining the Mix

It's not all about reruns though. Version 2.4 will introduce two exciting new characters to the roster:

  1. Yunli - Debuting in the first phase alongside Huohuo

  2. Jiaoqiu - Making an appearance in the second phase with Sparkle

From the beta testing leaks I've seen (don't tell HoYoverse!), both characters bring unique playstyles that could shake up the current meta. I'm particularly intrigued by Jiaoqiu's kit, which seems to offer some interesting team synergies.

Light Cone Reruns Worth Considering

As a F2P player who occasionally splurges on the monthly pass, I've learned that smart Light Cone investments can dramatically improve character performance. Version 2.4 brings back several notable 4-star Light Cones:

  • Poised to Bloom

  • A Secret Vow

  • Eyes of the Prey

  • Perfect Timing

  • The Birth of the Self

  • The Moles Welcome You

I've had my eye on Perfect Timing for my Tingyun build since I missed it last time around. The additional Energy Regeneration could make my Harmony support much more efficient in Simulated Universe runs.

The Exciting Return of March 7th

The most surprising announcement for version 2.4 has to be the introduction of an Imaginary-type March 7th variant! 😮 As one of the starter characters, March 7th holds a special place in my heart - she carried my team through the early game content when I first started playing.

To unlock this new version, we'll need to complete the "March to Mastery: A Star is Born" mission, which is tied to the Saga of Primaveral Blade event. I've already marked my calendar for July 30th when this event is expected to begin.

My Pull Strategy for 2.4

After careful consideration of my current roster gaps and future team compositions, here's my personal pull strategy for version 2.4:

  1. Skip Huohuo (already have her from her first run)

  2. Try for Guinaifen until I hit soft pity

  3. If I win the 50/50 on Sparkle's banner, great! If not, I'll save my guaranteed pity for a future character

I've found that having clear priorities helps manage the gacha anxiety that comes with limited resources. For newer players reading this, I recommend focusing on roles you're missing rather than just pulling for aesthetics (though I understand the temptation!).

Final Thoughts

Version 2.4 feels like a balanced update that caters to both veteran players looking to complete their collections and newcomers who missed earlier characters. The three-week window for each banner phase gives us enough time to gather resources and make informed decisions.

What excites me most is the continued evolution of the game's narrative. With each update, Honkai: Star Rail weaves its characters more deeply into the overarching story, and I'm curious to see how the new Imaginary March 7th fits into the lore.

Are you pulling for any specific characters in 2.4? I'd love to hear your thoughts and strategies! The Honkai community has always been one of the most supportive gaming groups I've been part of, and sharing our experiences makes the journey all the more enjoyable.

Until next time, fellow Trailblazers! May your 50/50s be won and your Light Cones be signature-worthy. 🚀✨

Insights are sourced from Game Developer (formerly Gamasutra), and they help frame why Honkai: Star Rail’s Version 2.4 rerun structure (two phases mixing premium reruns with high-demand 4★ units and Light Cones) is a proven live-service cadence: it sustains engagement by letting players plan around pity, fill roster role gaps, and re-enter the meta without relying solely on new character launches—especially relevant when deciding whether to chase utility supports like Sparkle or targeted 4★ pickups like Guinaifen.
