So there I was, scrolling through my character roster in Honkai Star Rail, when my eyes landed on Anaxa. This Erudition path character had been sitting in my collection for weeks, and I figured it was high time I gave him a proper spin. Let me tell you, this decision changed my entire gaming experience in 2025!
Anaxa isn't your typical Erudition character who just specializes in AoE damage. No, no, no. He's like that friend who brings snacks to the party but also DJs and cleans up afterward – a multi-talented gem who can DPS, buff, AND debuff. His ability to implant Weaknesses to enemies (similar to Silver Wolf) makes him an absolute beast for breaking Toughness bars.
The Erudition Power Couple
My first experiment was pairing Anaxa with The Herta, and OH MY GOODNESS. Talk about a match made in Astral Express heaven!
When you have two Erudition characters in a team, Anaxa buffs EVERYONE with a 50% DMG bonus. Plus, since Anaxa hits constantly with AoE attacks, he feeds The Herta's A2 Trace like a buffet, giving her tons of Energy. This means The Herta can spam her Ultimate like there's no tomorrow, and enemies just... disappear. 💥
I rounded out this team with Tribbie (that adorable universal buffer who works with literally everyone) and Lingsha as my healer. Lingsha's AoE abilities complement The Herta's A2 perfectly, and with Anaxa opening doors for her Breaking prowess, this team composition feels like cheating.
Sometimes I just sit back and watch as my enemies dissolve into pixels before they can even take a turn. Is this what godhood feels like?
Making Anaxa the Star of the Show
But what if you want Anaxa to be the main attraction? I've got you covered!
I swapped out The Herta and Lingsha for Jade and Robin, keeping Huohuo as my healer. This composition is chef's kiss for making Anaxa shine.
Jade supports units that can hit multiple enemies frequently, which is Anaxa's bread and butter. Robin is particularly fantastic here because she gives an extra turn when casting her Ultimate. Combined with Huohuo's healing and Energy battery capabilities, this team becomes an Ultimate-spamming machine.
I remember taking this team into the Simulated Universe last week, and the run was so smooth I actually fell asleep midway through. Woke up to find I'd somehow cleared three more floors. (Okay, not really, but it FELT that easy!)
The Hypercarry Approach
Did you know that if Anaxa is the only Erudition character in your team, he increases his own Crit DMG by a whopping 140%? When I discovered this, I immediately wanted to build a hypercarry team around him.
For this setup, I went with Sunday, Tribbie, and Huohuo. The key here is to make Sunday move after Anaxa so he can continuously give Anaxa extra turns. When you combine this with Anaxa's A2 and Sunday's Ultimate (which refills Energy), Anaxa essentially becomes an Ultimate bot.
The first time I tried this team in Memory of Chaos, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing. Anaxa was taking so many turns in a row that the enemies barely existed. It was like watching a one-man show where the audience (enemies) kept disappearing.
My Personal Favorite: The Chaos Bringer
After weeks of experimentation, I've developed my own special Anaxa team that I haven't seen anyone else using. I call it "The Chaos Bringer."
Team composition:
-
Anaxa (obviously)
-
Sunday (for those juicy extra turns)
-
The Herta (for Erudition resonance and off-field damage)
-
Tribbie (because who doesn't love Tribbie?)
This team sacrifices healing for pure, unadulterated chaos. With two Erudition characters, everyone gets that sweet 50% DMG bonus from Anaxa. Sunday ensures Anaxa gets plenty of turns, while The Herta provides consistent off-field damage and benefits from all the AoE hits happening. Tribbie ties it all together with her universal buffs.
Is this team practical for all content? Absolutely not! Do I die sometimes? You bet! Is it the most fun I've had in HSR in 2025? 100% YES.
Some Random Thoughts on Building Anaxa
I've found that the Wastelander of Banditry Light Cone works surprisingly well on Anaxa, though most guides don't mention it. Also, prioritizing Speed in your Relics can make a huge difference in how smoothly his teams run.
Oh, and don't sleep on his Ultimate Enhancement – that extra 20% DMG bonus when facing 3 or more enemies has saved me countless times in the new Forgotten Hall stages they added last month.
So there you have it – my journey with Anaxa from overlooked roster filler to my absolute favorite character in 2025's Honkai Star Rail meta. Whether you pair him with another Erudition character for team buffs or let him shine solo with that massive Crit DMG boost, this character deserves your attention.
Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go back to watching Anaxa take eight turns in a row while my enemies wonder what hit them. Just as I was wondering what hit me when I first added him to my team. Some things really do come full circle! 🌟
