I have been running Kafka since her debut, and in 2026 she still feels less like a standard DPS and more like a detonator wired into a cathedral of status effects. Her Skill and Ultimate reach into every enemy and explode all damage-over-time effects already stuck to them. That single mechanic changes everything about team building. I do not just ask who makes Kafka hit harder. I ask who can coat the battlefield in Shock, Wind Shear, Bleed, and Burn before Kafka pulls the trigger.
The Core Formula
Kafka is a five-star Nihility character who applies Shock through her Ultimate, Technique, follow-up attack, and Weakness Break. Her own Shock is useful, but it is not enough. The real damage comes from stacking DoTs from her teammates and then detonating them with her Skill or Ultimate. Because DoT damage scales with ATK, Effect Hit Rate, and the number of stacks, my ideal team usually includes:

Sampo: The Wind Shear Accountant
Sampo is one of my favorite partners because he turns the battlefield into a ledger of debts that Kafka can collect all at once. Every attack he lands can apply Wind Shear, and those stacks can climb up to five. With enough Effect Hit Rate, I can keep Wind Shear on every enemy. Kafka's Ultimate then becomes a violent audit, exploding all of it in a single moment. If you are building Kafka around DoT, Sampo is the simplest and most direct upgrade.
Bronya: The Turn Conductor
Bronya works with almost any DPS, but with Kafka she becomes a turn conductor. Her Skill gives Kafka another action, which means another Skill, more Shock triggers, and a faster Ultimate. I usually build ATK Percent on Kafka's Link Rope instead of Energy Regeneration Rate when Bronya is on the team, because Bronya solves the turn problem directly. The cost is Skill Points. Bronya and Kafka together can drain the team dry, so I only run this duo with a very Skill Point positive sustain.
Serval: The Lightning Partner
Serval fell out of fashion for a while, but Kafka brought her back. As a four-star Erudition character, Serval spreads Shock across multiple enemies and deals respectable damage while doing it. In Memory of Chaos floors where everything is weak to Lightning, Kafka and Serval can overwhelm the enemy before their turns matter. The constant Shock and Weakness Break make the fight feel like a storm that never gives the enemy a chance to breathe.
Luocha: The Silent Engine
Kafka teams are hungry for Skill Points, and Luocha is the quiet engine that feeds them. He automatically heals when an ally drops below 50 percent health, and his ATK scaling means those heals are strong even without heavy investment. On most turns, I just use his Basic Attack to generate Skill Points. He is not flashy, but without him the whole machine can stall.
Luka: The Bleed Specialist
Luka was released alongside Kafka for a reason. He applies Bleed with his Skill and increases the damage one enemy takes with his Ultimate. His enhanced Basic Attack is a miniature Kafka detonation: if the target has Bleed, he triggers it immediately. Against Physical-weak bosses, Luka gives Kafka another flavor of DoT to exploit.
Asta: The Speed Enabler
Asta is another excellent partner because her Ultimate raises team Speed and ATK. Faster turns mean more Kafka Skills and more DoT explosions. She also breaks shields easily, which can apply Fire DoT. If I am using Talia: Kingdom of Banditry on Kafka, Asta helps her reach the 145 Speed requirement without sacrificing too many substats.
Silver Wolf: The Elemental Locksmith
Silver Wolf is a locksmith for enemy weaknesses. One of Kafka's biggest problems is facing enemies who are not weak to Lightning. Silver Wolf can implant Lightning weakness, which lets Kafka break Toughness and apply Shock more reliably. Her Ultimate also reduces DEF, making every DoT tick and every detonation hit harder.
Blade: The Stellaron Hunter Synergy
Blade and Kafka are both Stellaron Hunters, and they genuinely work well together. Blade is a five-star Destruction character with Wind damage. He breaks Toughness with his Ultimate, follow-up attack, and enhanced Basic Attack, which triggers Wind DoT for Kafka to explode. He does not generate many Skill Points, but he also does not spend many, so the economy stays stable.
